This is a bit of a different post to my usual. However, this has been a big discussion point at bridge this week. When I went into the harley to have my coolsculpting appointment, I saw a banner for a treatment called the Priapus Shot or p-shot for Erectile dysfunction in Sydney with more information on the page linked. This is very close to my family with my late husband suffered from erectile dysfunction and it was something that he was too proud to seek help for and therefore he suffered in silence.
This is a very good video from a physician in the USA who is certified to use this technology.
This is not an easy topic for me to talk about, especially to have my son Robert type into this post and put online (sorry Robert). But the little bit of embarrassment or me and Robert is nothing compared to what many men in Sydney have to go through every day.
So what is the Priapus Shot
First let’s look at what it is not. It is not a drug, there are many drugs available on the market and through a GP that will temporarily treat or mask the symptoms. I for one am not a big fan of drugs, firstly you usually need to take them ongoing to make a difference, they also seem to be a quick fix by a GP. But that is enough of my rant on GP’s!
The Priapus Shot is actually a treatment that comes from your own blood. Yes sounds a bit strange but the doctor will take some of your blood and it is stored for later use. The blood is spun in a centrifuge so that the platelets/ plasma is separated. You might have heard of the treatment for facials. It is called a PRP shot or a platelet rich plasma injection. This I am told was made famous by Kim Kardashian (sorry I don’t know who she is).
PRP injections have been used for decades, my previous clinic used to administer these as a facial rejuvenation treatment. Sports men and women have also been using these as a way to heal their bodies faster. Those sports people do hammer their bodies and a way to heal before the next game is not just an ice bath, they also use the healing properties in their own blood to heal quicker.
What does this have to do with Erectile Dysfunction?
Well the key part is in the healing. Drugs will give you temporary relief but if you want to heal the organ and make it healthier, then this is a way to do that. However you will need to be ok with a needle going in there if you know what I mean…
I have found some additional resources on this and I found a good definition for anyone wanting it to Health Direct Australia this is a really great website with a lot of information .
Well this one is a bit shorter than my usual posts but that is because I am a female 🙂
I know I still have to come back with my consultation, in fact I am a bit behind as I have my treatment tomorrow yay.
Hope you are enjoying the summer coming, it is starting to warm up nicely and I hope to have the stuborn fat gone by summer!!
Lots of love
