Location-Based Services (LBS) Regulation in Australia

Roba spoke of the importance of the Global Positioning System (GPS), introduced globally and at a fast pace. She outlined the issues that are arising as it was not possible to keep up with its implementation. She pointed out the areas - in policy, law, regulations and ethics - needed to bridge these socio-ethical dilemmas.

Bio: Ms Roba Abbas graduated with First Class Honours in Information and Communication Technology (majoring in Business Information Systems) from the University of Wollongong in 2006, earning a place on the Dean’s Merit List. She is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Information Systems and Technology, on an ARC-funded project and scholarship in the field of location-based services regulation. Roba is involved in teaching Organisational Issues and Information Technology at Wollongong University and holds the position of Solutions Development Manager at Internetrix, an interactive website development company.
