Financial Report 2001
At the end of 2001, WISENET had a balance of $7116 compared to $5357 and at the end of 2000 and $7799 at the end of 1999. The trend for the annual balance is shown in Figure 1.

In 2001 our normal subscription level was down at $5154 compared to $6284 in 2000 and $7248 in 1999. However our request for donations to pay for someone to help with the journal in late 2001 brought in $905 with the 2002 subscriptions and further donations came in early 2002. The trend for the balance in 2001 and early 2002 is shown in Figure 2.

Our main costs are associated with the journal and the overall trend is for these costs to increase (Figure 3). While the donations are aimed at to paying for someone to help with the journal, we need to maintain our membership base to minimise the journal cost per member. It is unclear yet whether we will receive funds to produce a special issue of the journal covering the pending CPSU conference on Women in Science. With this conference in Sydney, WISENET members should be encourage to attend to promote WISENET.

WISENET should still continue to look at ways of generating income, particularly through grants. |
