Comments for WiSeNet Journal 54
I have been a passive member from WiSeNet for 10 years or so and always enjoy receiving the journal. I wanted to really congratulate you on the fantastic issue about the WAIS conference. I enjoyed all of the articles and read the journal immediately. I especially enjoyed the paper about why there are so few women in science. I have photocopied it to give to my friends.
I began life as a medical scientist but family commitments led me to science teaching and I now find myself encouraging 12-13 year old girls that science is for them. In the main, they are very enthusiastic. I hope that when they enter the workforce they will not need to fight discrimination.
So thanks again

Congratulations
on another wonderful issue. I particularly wish to thank Annabelle Duncan,
Chief, CSIRO, Molecular Science and the editors of
WiSeNet Journal 54 for writing and
publishing, respectively, the article entitled “Surviving and Thriving in
Non-Traditional Roles” (p23).
I found the article positive and uplifting. The article has given
me hope that my diverse skills and often strange work experience combined with
caring for young children may yet find me in a scientific career that I enjoy
and an environment that I thrive in. It was very encouraging to read such an
article.
Yours
faithfully,
Nicola Elliott
