Jennifer Westren - New Tasmanian Link Group Convenor
15/7/05 Dear TAS WISENET,
Enormous thanks to outgoing Link Group Convenor Barbara Smith. Your energy, consideration and enjoyment of science was a real pleasure to share Barb.
Welcome to the incoming Link Group Convenor, Jennifer Westren who has sent the following letter of introduction.
Cheers, Anna.
Letter from Jennifer Westren:
I joined WISENET as I have been involved in, and have been enthusiastic about, science throughout my working life. I see a membership in this organisation as an excellent forum to further promote this exacting discipline. I have continued to maintain an interest in promoting science, as a member of the Executive of the Tasmanian Association of Laboratory Technicians over many years, several of these as President of this organisation. I believe science will play the lead role in addressing our looming problems related to climate change, water shortage, and global warming, and in developing alternate energies.
As a laboratory technician I am involved in science at the “coal face” of education, providing valuable backing for teachers and students in their experimental work, whilst keeping them updated on the latest trends in science technology. I am convinced that the future of science in Australia depends on building an enthusiastic appreciation of science amongst our young people, and in the community at large.
