ACT WISENET LUNCH

Dear WISENET Member,

You are cordially invited to our next WISENET lunch meeting.

Our guest speaker will be Ms Maria KUBIK, paintings conservator, who has been involved with treating the collections at all of Canberra's cultural institutions.

Maria graduated with a BAppSc and MAppSc from the University of Canberra and is currently completing a PhD on the spectroscopic identification of pigments, including ochres characterisation for the National Museum of Australia.

Maria will be telling us about Conservation as a career. Conservation provides a stimulating interface between art and science, with practical applications and opportunities for further research. It requires a knowledge of art history, chemistry, historical and modern artists' materials, the structure and behaviour of these, and a range of scientific methods to examine, restore and preserve objects of art.

Date: Thursday 28 July 2005 at 12.30 pm

Venue: Teatro VIVALDI Restaurant, ANU Campus

RSVP: Friday July 15th 2005

In order to have efficient service we have been asked to pre-order our meals. The special lunch menu is being updated and will be available next week. The price remains the same: $21 for entree, main and drink. Please email me for the menu details - ines_carrin@hotmail.com.

Please donīt miss this great opportunity to find out what happens behind the scenes in our museums and art galleries!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
